Hey friends! We hope our Half-Baked event prepared you for our most recent pivot: GiveBackHack Global will now take place virtually between October 9–17. Thank you for being flexible as we work to make GBH Global the raddest re-imagined event of 2020 since drive-in raves (and yes, that is a thing!).
If this isn’t your first rodeo (maybe it’s your second, third or fourth…) we hope you’re just as excited as we are to attend this year’s GiveBackHack Global. But, just in case you need a little extra push — or maybe even some talking points to convince a friend, coworker or even your grandma to join in — we hope you’ll enjoy the following five reasons why YOU should attend GiveBackHack Global 2020!
1. You have the time and flexibility to make a greater impact (from your couch!)
While the traditional GiveBackHack model — in all of its fast-paced, chaotic glory — is something we’re really proud of, this year is the perfect opportunity to really slow down and dig deep into the issues you care about. You’ll have a whole week to develop a well-researched, highly sustainable and user-validated solution at your own pace and on your own time. Better yet, you get to bring your idea center-stage to an audience of people from around the world!
2. You’ll make lifelong friends
Making an impact is a team effort and GBH Global is how we help you build your team. Along the way, you’ll find tons of awesome, like-minded people who are just as serious as you are about the issues that matter most to you. Whether it’s tackling climate change, food insecurity or racial inequity, you’ll find lifelong friendships among those rallying around the same issues you’re most passionate about.
3. You’ll receive incredible mentorship
GiveBackHack wouldn’t exist if not for the groundbreaking success of our teams. Our goal is to provide everything we can to help your idea take off and become a reality. That’s why we gather some of the most talented professionals within the startup community with the expertise to give your idea the best chance for success.

Money and mentorship go hand-in-hand when it comes to success. GiveBackHack is one of the few places where you can get funding for your idea while it’s still in those critical early stages. This year, we now have $15,000 in funding from IGS and the Columbus Foundation for our teams. That money will be the rocket fuel you need to take your idea to the next level.
5. You can make a difference when it matters most
Let’s not sugarcoat this one—2020 has laid bare some of the most painful and appalling aspects of our history, our society and ourselves. Many of us are left uncertain on how to help make things better and are wondering what’s even possible.
