CCAD MindMarket

Events / Columbus 2016

Overview

Have you ever had an idea to solve an issue in our community? GiveBackHack is the next step. Attend to partner up with the community and find the resources to make that idea a reality.

The event kicked off Friday night, where community members of all backgrounds who are eager to make an impact on the city around them met and exchanged ideas. The crowd favorites were identified and teams were formed around them. Participants then spent the weekend mentored by top social entrepreneurs, non-profit leaders, venture capitalists and prominent business men/women as they vetted their ideas and built them into real products – physical products, smartphone applications, websites and a variety of solutions for the issues we face in Columbus.

omniBUS
omniBUS is a mobile app that eliminates transportation uncertainty by showing users where their bus is in real-time. Don’t worry. Just ride. omniBUS created a live, working prototype for their bus-tracking smartphone application during the weekend, had discussions with local COTA riders & employees, as well as engaged local advocates of Columbus transportation to validate their idea, build a business model that increases ridership, and an impact model that demonstrated the positive impact increased public transit ridership would bring to the community.
