COLUMBUS, Ohio — We’re excited to share the winners of GiveBackHack’s first 24-Hour Hack, a new twist on our flagship weekend event.

On November 8th and 9th, over 40 community members from Columbus, OH met at Columbus College of Art & Design to share their ideas for a more healthy, caring, and generous future. Folks from all professional backgrounds—nursing, engineering, social services, and more—formed five teams that explored chronic disease, hunger, caregiver support, charitable giving, and memory technology.

Throughout the day, teams dug into the real experiences behind these issues. They interviewed over a dozen people working in benefits, fundraising, or food access, and surveyed an additional 100 folks living with chronic disease or struggling to manage their loved ones memories.

This knowledge directly informed what teams built. Instead of polished demos, teams created simple proof-of-concepts like skits, chatbots, and physical challenges to show how their ideas could work in the real world.

At Sunday’s showcase, teams presented their projects to the judging panel and dozens of community members. And thanks to The Columbus Foundation, each team walked away with a piece of the $5,000 pot.

Now, they begin their journey beyond the weekend: validating their projects by driving impactful outcomes in food security, caregiver wellness, disease management, and more. Meet the winners below:
